Our site is a community dedicated to enthusiasts of the Cisco Smart Business Communications System.  Our goal is to provide configuration examples and explanations to help you get the most out of your Cisco VOIP system and help you achieve the CCNA Voice certification.

My name is Ted Trentler, and I am a Certified Cisco Systems Instructor.  Originally, I started this site as a repository for information about Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express (formerly known as Cisco Call Manager Express) that is beyond the official courseware that Cisco provides in the IPTX, IIUC and IIUC2 courses.

When this site started, I was providing most of the posts, now that is no longer the case.  We now have a worldwide userbase of several thousand registered users and our support forums are very active.

Below are a few books I recommend to help you get your head around the mechanics of the UC520 which runs CallManager Express and Unity Express.
The book Cisco IP Communications Express: CallManager Express with Cisco Unity Express is probably the best reference for configuring the UC520 even though it was written specifically for CallManager Express in 2005 well before the UC520 came out.
I also Highly recommend the Gateways and Gatekeepers book, it is a bit full blown Call Manager focused but the gateway configurations are applicable to CallManager Express, since it has the core gateway functionality of a Cisco voice router. It also is an easy read.
