CCA Improvements coming....

As you may have learned, the initial release of the Cisco Configuration Assistant GUI (CCA) for the UC520 has a few shortcomings that have made initial technical set up for new partners more challenging than it should be. Realistically, CCA probably can configure 70% of a production configuration of a UC520. The remaining 30% has to be done in either the CLI or in another tool (like the Unity Express admin or the Automated Attendant scripting tool).

While this is much better than previous incarnations (which were 100% CLI), it still isn’t where we want it to be. The business unit engineers are feverishly working on a CCA1.5 release (we’re on 1.1 now) that is due out in January. It should be a significant improvement (95% of the configuration steps). There is also a CCA2.0 release slated for end of Q1 of 2008 that should be 100%.
