CCA Version 1.5 upcoming release.

There is much to look forward to with the upcoming release of CCA (Cisco Configuration Assistant) Version 1.5. For those of you that might have found the first four versions , Version 1.0, 1.0(1), 1.1 and 1.1(1), cumbersome and lacking configuration settings that one might expect when looking to program from a GUI, let me assure you this new release will be very welcomed by those that don’t have CLI (Command Line Interface) experience. Just within my first few clicks of CCA Version 1.5, I must say I was excited how many cool things Cisco has added. Not only are there more configuration settings available, but new features. Some of the new features are:

Device Setup Wizard which allows set up of all the SBCS products currently available.

Wireless Controller Dashboard will display information for all of the Wireless LAN controllers in the community.

Convert to LAP feature will convert autonomous access points to lightweight access points.

WLAN Users will allow adding wireless users the WLAN controllers and customize the content and appearance of the Web login page.

License Management will allow modification of license to support additional telephony users. Yes, these licenses will need to be purchased and SKUs for this will be coming.

In addition to some of the new features listed above there are many enhanced features that will only give this little All-in-One solution more flexibility. With this massive update to CCA it will be interesting to see how they refine it when Version 2.0 is release later this year.

CCA 1.5

do i need to do some basic config to use CCA1.5

It's o.k.

I was able to get a version of 1.5 a few weeks back from a partner engineer. It's o.k., but they still have a lot of work to do if they want it to replace line entry. I have noticed that it takes much longer to pull up a field (ie. telephony) then it did before. My biggest complaint is that if you still use COM or line entry, to change features that CCA does not have/see, you cannot make changes to those extensions through CCA anymore.

what is really annoying is

what is really annoying is that CCA don't read the dial-plans I make in the CLI, I just get these stupid empty fields that makes it impossible to change anything in the CCA. And if I DO fill in something it completely overrides my initial dial-plans!

That's good cause, I got some stand alone AIR APs that I need to upgrade to work with my WLC...

Really looking forward to

Really looking forward to this one. CCA 1.1 does not even come close to set up the UC in a proper manner.
