IP communicator with Multiple CCME devices and TFTP issues

Andy's picture

I have a UC500 which I can get IP communicator to register to with no issue so long as it is right after I install IP communicator.

We have a bunch of customers using the UC500 and I want to be able to register my IP Comm to multiple systems.

Once I go in and change the TFTP address and IP comm connects to another UC500 I can never get it to register to the original UC500 again. I change the tftp server entires but I can not get tftp from the uc5000 I want. Is there a way to force IP comm to register to a remote UC500 and ignore tftp. It seems to do this if it has never been able to reach any tftp server but once it reaches a tftp server it seems to hold or cache something that makes it need to reach a TFTP server on the UC500 for it to register.

Any help would be appreciated.

Andy

The tftp server field should

The tftp server field should just be the CME IP address....the IP that is under telephony-service section of the CME config. I swap systems with my IP Communicator all the time with no issues.....in fact most of the UC500 installs use the same CME IP so no change is needed in the IP Comm settings, it just connects to whatever UC500 I'm VPN'd to at the time.

Keep in mind that my local UC500/CME IP is unique so that it never conflicts with any remote sites that I'm connected to.
