New UC520 4.2(7) Posted!

After a delay of what seemed to be forever, 4.2(7) for the UC520 has finally been posted for download!

Go here http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/UC520 for all the goods.

I can't find any release notes but I see the following is included:
- CUE 3.0.3 (up from 2.3.4)
- IOS 12.4.11-XW7 (up from 12.4.11-XW6)
- and a new set of phone loads

solution

Hi Guys,

Comment #31 basically says it all. The CCA is trying to reach the UC500 on a DIFFERENT ip address and than the one you are using. If you come in through the WAN port you won't be able to update the CUE unless you manually change the routing table on your windows pc.

I wrote a little note about this on the Cisco community, I hope it's okay that I post this here:
https://www.myciscocommunity.com/docs/DOC-3754

Debug log shows....

When it fails at the CUE backup in the GUI, I get this in the debug log:

(Lots of this)
com.cisco.nm.lib.cmdsvc.CmdSvcException: No SessionContext found for CmdSvc context 0

Any one have any ideas?

From the log:

Backup Failed for UC520

Backup of CUE configuration and data failed

I too get the dreaded:

Backup of CUE configuration and data failed

Did anyone ever find a solution to this? I even used a fresh CF 1G card.

Thanks!

Upgrading with CCA but my configuration is custom

Hi!

May I upgrade with CCA even if my configurations for CallManager Express and CUE are completely rewritten from scratch manually?
Maybe I can upgrade IOS and phoneloads manually without problems, and then following (for the first time) the standard procedure for CUE upgrade. Is it safer?

Thanks!

upgrading

I had a pretty custom config and CCA 1.6 did a good job on the upgrade. It corrected all of the tftp and phone load statements well. It does back up your current config before attempting so it might be worth a try.

Just my .02

Upgrade? .ZIP .BIN

I am very new to the UC520. I assume to upgrade to the latest release using cca you goto Maintenance -> Software upgrade -> Upgrade Settings -> and then browse to uc500-advipservicesk9-mz.124-11.XW7 .

once i do that, i get a message saying "Slectect file is not a valid archive for software upgrade of the UC500 series, or there is not enought disk space to extract the file.

Any Advice?

UC500 4.2.7 Upgrade******Advisory

Pls make sure that you use CCA 1.6 for upgrade of UC500 to 4.2.7 Software pack. An advisory is being posted on cisco.com.

CUE Upgrade failed

Have the same problem here: The Upgrade failed, the CUE is not working any longer, there is no access to the Integrated Service Module.
If there is any chance to repair it, it would be nice to know...

got it

Follow the link hotrot provided. You want to follow the instructions for bootloader install. The way I did it was:

*Console onto the UC500
*SSH to the UC500 and open a session to the service module
*From your console window, shutdown the service module and when it's done, reset it.
*On your SSH window you will see the scrolling text messages of the CUE module.
*Start to follow the Bootloader install instructions provided by hotrot.

my upgrade failed on CUE

Hotrot,

How would you perform the bootloader install if you can't get into the CUE? When I establish a session the screen is just blank with no prompt and no response to commands.

I think the new CUE version

I think the new CUE version fouled up my old CUE. I cannot access it at all. I think it will have to be replaced. No way to get to it. Cannot even get a integrated-service-engine session.

Same Problem over here..!!

did you turn your firewall off

Is your firewall off on the PC you are running CCA on?

Yes, Firewall is off.

Yes, Firewall is off.

Upgrade Files

Can someone verify the files are there and available we have subscription but it keeps telling me that there are no files available

UC520 4.2(7) release pulled?

It looks to me like Cisco has pulled back the 4.2.7 release. I downloaded the 4.2.7 zip last night, but I don't see it on the Cisco site anymore.

-cypressmn

I see it

It shows up for me. I just checked again.

It's back

Ummm... The 4.2.7 is back with a published date of today 4-14-08. I swear it wasn't there a few minutes ago!

Files are...

There, just Dled about 20 min ago.

I did all of the same steps

I did all of the same steps Ted mentioned. I did the upgrade through the new CCA because I felt like living dangerously ;)

The step that took me the longest to figure out was #3. Turning off my computer's firewall prevented the backup from occuring over FTP and once that was off, the upgrade was seemless.

How long did the CUE upgrade take, yawn... I have been waiting about 30 minutes and it still says it is "Installing new CUE image" ?

The last step took a REALLY

The last step took a REALLY LONG time I remember but I didn't clock it. It eventually finished and all was good for me.

Suggestions before Upgrade

I love this site! Great job posting the update first Babul.

I have a few suggestions before starting the UC520 upgrade.

1. Do a full backup first
2. Connect your PC directly to a port on the UC520
3. Turn off your firewall. The backup process needs to use FTP to complete the backup.
4. Delete at least 90 MB off of the flash
Before I upgraded I removed old versions of IOS and ALL Phone firmware files off of my UC520. The will upgrade place current versions of firmware on flash.
5. After you upgrade delete the pre upgrade version of IOS off of the flash to free up space.

I did the above and had no problems with my upgrade.

Hope that helps,

Ted

Delete files to have more free space

Hi !
When you speak about "delete at least 90MB off of the flash", I would like to know which files ?

For example, ALL phone firmware ?
Then just "copy" the new ones to the flash ?

I tried to make a copy of the Cisco Flash to a new one with 1GB, but : the CME will start and no phone won't go up.

May be it will more easy to erase all the files, then put all the new one from the Cisco file (full CME with last release) but I don't know how to do it

Thanks for your help
Pascal

Default gateway

Hello everyone,
I had to put the UC 500 as default gateway.
If I didn't, the upgrade failed.
HTH

I followed the advice above
