Keysystem or PBX

warpsys's picture

We have just purchased a UC520 and are in the process of setting it up. We have two analogue phone lines and one analogue fax line that will connect to the UC520 - it has been set up as a PBX at the moment but we are still only testing.

Would we be better to set it up as a Keysystem in the set up we have?

Many thanks

Paul

I would recommend the

I would recommend the KeySystem. Since this is a small site, it would be best because it is what you are use to. As for the softphone it would still work the same way. You would configure the phone the as the rest with the CO trunk lines.

If all you need is dialtone

If all you need is dialtone then a key system is the way to go. If you plan to use more of the features and functionality that Unified Communications provides, then the pbx model is ideal.

Are you using the UC520 just as a PBX or are you also taking advantage of the firwall and VPN features as well?

Keysystem or PBX

At the moment, just using it as a PBX as have a separate Firewall / VPN

Sorry to be thick, but what features of the PBX would we miss if I went for the Key system?

Many thanks

One thing we would like to

One thing we would like to use is remote workers connecting with IP Communicator softphones, if that makes a difference

Thanks again
