Linksys SIP Phone on UC520

martin.aicher's picture

Hello, my name is Martin and i am writing from austria.
We have two uc520 in our offices and we are only working on sip-trunks to our provider!
These work great.

We have a lot of Linksys SIP Phones in our office, but they do not work with our uc520.

Do somebody know, how to connect a non Cisco Phone to a Cisco Call Manager Express.

Has somebody a example for me?

Thanks Martin

Linksys SIP

Once you get connection from Linksys phones (or any other third party) to the CME, which telephony features might be missed or become a headache?

downloading SEP001DE5EA9CC5.cnf.xml
downloading XMLDefault524G.cnf.xml
Registering
Reboot

Same thing

I am having the same problem here with a new 524g . Did you ever find a solution,... debug ephone is not showing anything helpful. I am assuming its a UC520 firmware issue...

Parallel hunt group

Thanks for the guide was a great help and works sweet !!

I have tried to get a Cisco 7960 and a Linksys phone in a parallel hunt group to both ring at the same time, and cannot figure out how to do it. My Linksys SIP phone works fine and the 7960 works, but I just can't get them to ring together in a group.

I can get two 7960's to ring at the same time.

I can get two Linksys phones to ring at the same time.

But a mix of a Linksys and a 7960 - no chance - and ideas?

Thanks
Bruce

Convert your Cisco phones to

Convert your Cisco phones to SIP or replace the Linksys phones with Cisco phones and run SCCP.

For all intents and purposes, you're runing two seperate phone systems on the box.

Enjoy communication like never before with the Nokia N81

he new N81 handset from Nokia is one the most successful mobile phones coming from the Finnish mobile giant. Nokia enjoys the reputation of being the largest selling mobile brand and yet again explains the reason for its success in the market with the N81 thanks to the colorful features and user friendly characteristics. The Nokia N81 has an expandable memory option where the memory could be expanded as per the needs and requirements of the users unto 2 Gbyte using a Micro SD card. The black colored handset has a colored edging around the casing and a navigation wheel. The robust phone in solid size is a light weight one that is very handy due to the 140 gram weight and measurement of 17.9 x 50 x 102 mm. The presence of WLAN technology makes the model more sophisticated. The media, music and internet focused cheap contract phones has a screen that measures 2.4 inches that could display up to sixteen millioncolours making the phone more perfect for quality viewing.

Thanks for your help!

I tried the guide and it will not work!
I don't know how the phones will connect to the router, because there is no communication.
After I have configured the router with the guide my outgoing sip-trunk does not work.

Does somebody have a running config of this situation!

Thanks
Martin

SIP phone on UC520

It can be done. look at this guide here first. It will point yu in the right direction.
http://uc500.com/files/CME-SIP-Config-Guidev3%20Oct%202007.pdf
Third party SIP phones do work with CME/Uc520.

The Global Knowledge IPTX course I teach actually has a lab where students configure a X-lite SIP softphone. (Since the lab guide is copywrited - I can't share the steps here)

Hope that helps,

Ted

SIP phone on UC520

I followed the IPTX in Global Knowledge Paris 6 month ago and i don't configure any SIP phone :). Where do you teach it?

ttrentler's picture

here there everywhere

I teach mostly in the Unites States on the East Coast. In the lab guide, I use, it is in the back of the book listed as Optional Lab 2. In my class, I don't make it optional :)

I'm off to teach in Denmark next week under Global Knowledge Europe and I'll see if they are using the same lab guide.

Linksys SIP Phone on UC520

Hi !! I only use cisco phone and sscp registration, but during my preparation for the IPTX certification i read that :
You have to use the command : "allow-connections sip to sip" in "conf t" and "voice service voip" to enable incoming and outgoing calls between SIP phones in a callmanager express.

Still in "voice service voip", enter in SIP configuration mode with "sip" and then "registar server" to enable the registar service.

Enter the command "voice registar global" and use the command "mode cme" to allow an adminstrator to provision SIP endpoints in Cisco Unified CallManager Express. To identify the IP address and port throught wich SIP phones communicate, use the "source-address" command.

I don't learn how to totaly configure a SIP phone. Of course Cisco certification only talk about cisco ip phone :) ...

Phone Type and Load Type

The Cisco instructions mention choosing the Phone Type and Load configuration file. What do you do for this if you are using a Linksys phone?

Thanks,

Ryan
